Senior Brittany Funk (Jeromesville, Ohio) successfully defended her conference title in the women's weight throw recording a school-record throw of 71-8.75 to lead the efforts of the Akron men's and women's track and field team on the opening day of the Mid-American Conference Championship on Friday, Feb. 27.
