The University of Akron Department of Athletics announced its 41st Annual Varsity A” Sports Hall of Fame Inductees on Monday.

Akron track and field standout senior Claudia Garcia Jou (Barcelona, Spain) was tabbed by the Mid-American Conference as the MAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The Akron track and field team returns to action this Friday, Jan. 22, as the Zips square off against rival Kent State in a dual meet at the Kent State Field House starting at 5:30 p.m.

Sparked by a pair of school records and 16 first-place performances, the Akron track and field teams bested rival Kent State in a men's and women's dual meet at the Kent State Field House on Friday, Jan. 22.

The University of Akron track and field team opened its 2016 indoor campaign registering a pair of victories and a combined 27 top-five performances at the Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 16.

University of Akron redshirt junior Caroline Hasse (Potsdam, Germany) surpassed 13-3.50 (4.05m) to garner the victory in the top women's pole vault flight to direct the Zips' efforts at the National Pole Vault Summit on Saturday, Jan. 16.
