Akron's Hunter Garretson won the men's pole vault gold medal for the United States with a meet-record 18-4.75 (5.61m) clearance on his third attempt at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Under-23 Championships at the National Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica. Garretson eclipsed the 2019 performances of 18-4.50 (5.60m) achieved by fellow Americans Clayton Fritsch and Zach Bradford in Mexico.
